Justin has been in the Texas National Guard for over 17 years, where he served as a military police officer, aviation mechanic, and a helicopter pilot for the past 10 years. He has been deployed twice flying UH-60's conducting MEDEVAC in Iraq and Afghanistan. Currently he serves full-time with the National Guard as an aviation safety officer for the Texas counterdrug aviation element. Since 2010 he has had the pleasure to serve as a unit aviation safety officer with 2 units, where he is responsible for managing all safety aspects within the unit to include training, risk assessments, safety councils, regulatory requirements, and accident investigations. Justin is currently pursuing a master of science in occupational safety management with Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. Recently he was awarded a $10,000 scholarship from the ASSE Foundation to help assist him realize the goal of obtaining a graduate degree and enhance his ability to serve his unit and continue his career in the safety profession when he separates from the military.
