The Future Safety Leaders Conference, held every November, gathers nearly 150 students from over 40 colleges and universities from across the U.S. This event brings students, OSH and top employers together for a two-day conference focused on providing tools to help students transition from student life to successful safety professionals.
Participants engage in roundtable discussions with experienced OSH professionals, gaining valuable career advice. They learn strategies from presenters on how to be an effective leader and communicator. In addition to resume critiques, public speaking and how get the most out of ASSP, representatives from sponsor companies such as, BCSP, CLMI-Safety Training, Georgia-Pacific, BCSP, Liberty Mutual Insurance, UL and URS-AECOM conduct mock interviews and set up booths where attendees could learn more about their companies.
Recent attendees had the opportunity to hear from keynote speaker Dr. Daniel J. Moran on how to build Safety Commitments. Many were impacted by Dr. Moran’s quote: “I am here now, accepting my feelings and noticing my thoughts, while doing what I care about.” ASSP President-Elect, Mike Belcher challenged attendees to become the next generation of society leaders.
